Apprenticeship Training Program

Deep arts learning for teens during out of school hours.

Our nationally recognized after-school arts program for high school students is designed to educate and inspire any young person who has an interest in the arts and creative self-expression. Learning through the arts at MCG connects students with a world of ideas and aspirations for life, higher education and careers.

MCG’s after-school program is offered at no cost to Pittsburgh Public School students.

Are you a parent, teacher, school administrator or mentor of non-PPS students? Please contact Student Services about your interest! MCG offers a limited number of enrollment slots each term for students outside of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. A private school, district or community organization may wish to sponsor enrollment, or students’ families may choose to independently pay the reasonable cost of registration.

Courses are regularly scheduled to run weekdays from 3–5:30 p.m., but some exceptions do occur. Transportation via yellow bus is provided from select Pittsburgh Public High Schools Monday through Friday. PPS Students may also access transportation tickets for use on public buses. At the conclusion of the day, PPS students are shuttled from MCG to downtown Pittsburgh and use bus passes to travel home to their various neighborhoods.

The Apprenticeship Training Program includes courses in all four studios — Ceramics, Design Arts, Digital Arts, and Photography.
