HIM by Adam Chau runs from January 13 through March 15, 2020. A public reception and artist talk is scheduled for February 13 from 6-8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
In his ceramic work, Adam Chau explores how millennial cultures—specifically queer communities—utilize digital platforms to create dialog. Integrating handcraft and high-tech, Chau’s newest body of work, “Him,” examines the artist’s relationship with his husband through a series of images mechanically painted onto porcelain tiles. Both tender and mundane, these works present a distillation of intimacy in a digital world.
In addition to his solo exhibition, Chau will lead a youth workshop as a visiting artist for MCG Youth & Arts’ Appren- ticeship Training Program. Chau has previously exhibited work at Salone di Mobile at Rossana Orlandi in Milan, Italy and the NADA art fair in New York City. His research into ceramic technology has been featured in “Ceramics Monthly,” “Studio Potter,” and “Ceramic Technical.”
