Surrealism came out of the desire to liberate the creativity of the subconscious mind. In this class we will draw inspiration from contemporary digital artists who are creating surreal works of art using Photoshop. You will learn Photoshop from the ground up. Start with the basics then move into some intermediate and advanced processes. By the end of this course you will have a solid foundation in Photoshop along with several high quality prints of your work.

MCG gives artists the opportunity to create and exhibit their work. It is also a great resource for bringing your creative ideas to life. In this course you’ll have access to our portrait studio, digital photography equipment, and to our black and white darkroom. You can focus on creating, printing and learning new techniques in Photoshop, as well as with selective chemical processes. You’ll shoot, print, and help critique each others work as you build your portfolio and create personal projects for exhibitions.

Studio Pottery
Teaching Artist: Jeff Guerrero
Jan 10 – Feb 28 (8 classes)
Tuesdays, 6 – 9 p.m.
Tuition: $160
Materials Fee: $50
Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced potter, you’ll have a great time at MCG. Although we tend to gravitate towards wheel throwing and functional pottery, you are welcome to create hand-built ornamental and sculptural work as well. Works made in this class will be high-fired in our gas kiln so they’ll look great and be microwave and dishwasher safe. We’ll also do some raku firing, which is an exciting process that leads to interesting and often beautiful results.
